Jef Aerts is a Senior Sound Designer at Ubisoft and an Ableton Certified Trainer with nearly three decades of professional experience in sound design, music production, audio post-production, and interactive audio.

His passion for sound began in the mid-1990s, experimenting with vintage samplers, synthesizers, and guitar pedals before studying Image and Sound at the RITS in Brussels. He started his professional career at Galaxy Studios, where he gained extensive experience as a recording and mixing engineer on a wide range of music productions.
After two years, Jef became a freelance audio engineer, working with various recording studios while teaching sound engineering through workshops and personalized training in Pro Tools and Ableton Live.
From 2004 to 2020, Jef worked at A Sound, one of Belgium's leading post-production facilities, where he specialized in sound design and re-recording mixing for feature films, television series, documentaries, and commercials. During this period, he also composed music for advertising campaigns for brands including Sony, Head & Shoulders, and ERA.
In 2020, Jef transitioned into the video game industry, joining Ubisoft as a Sound Designer. Since then, he has contributed to several AAA productions, creating immersive interactive audio and sound design for some of the industry's largest franchises.
Alongside his work in games, Jef remains active as an educator. As one of Belgium's first Ableton Certified Trainers, he teaches producers, musicians, DJs, and audio professionals through both group workshops and one-on-one coaching. His courses range from introductory Ableton Live training to advanced production techniques, live performance setups, remixing, and professional music production workflows.
Whether designing sound for games, film, or music, Jef is driven by the same goal: creating immersive sonic experiences while sharing his knowledge with the next generation of audio creators.
